This event occurs in April and is the culmination of a year of planning, evaluating, training, organizing, and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of community volunteers. Volunteers join local affiliate leaders to repair and restore houses and nonprofit facilities, revitalizing entire communities and making a lasting impression on the families and individuals who are helped. Safe at HomeThe primary goal of Rebuilding Together’s Safe at Home program is to address home repair and maintenance issues that potentially present a safety risk or limit the access to or within the home. This strategy is driven by Rebuilding Together’s vision of a Safe and Healthy Home for everyone.
Green HousingWhile the green movement has only gained momentum in the past few years, Rebuilding Together affiliates have been utilizing green practices — and providing green home rehabilitation — since our founding over 20 years ago. We believe that home repair and rehabilitation are inherently green. Gulf Coast OperationsIn 2005, Rebuilding Together’s Gulf Coast Operations Initiative was launched in response to the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We are well on our way to fulfilling the goal of our Rebuild 1000 program, enabling hundreds of homeowners and their families to return to their homes along the Gulf Coast. The Gulf Coast Operations Initiative continues to rebuild low-income homes and to develop the capacity of our Gulf Coast affiliates, from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Southeast Texas.  Veterans HousingRebuilding Together’s Veterans Housing Initiative was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. The initiative fills gaps in home repair services for retired and active service members by increasing the home’s accessibility, enabling veterans to live independently and safely in their own homes.  CapacityCorpsRebuilding Together’s AmeriCorps program, called the Rebuilding Together CapacityCorps is a high-impact National AmeriCorps program of 65 full-time AmeriCorps members serving in 33 Rebuilding Together affiliates in 20 states. RTGLA currently has CapacityCorps Member Kelly Nakamura.
